Patient Stories

We've had some great feedback from patients who have completed our 12 week PAD programme. Have a watch below to see what they had to say...

Colin

Colin joined the PAD 12 week programme in the summer and has seen amazing progress! It's helped to reduce the pain in his leg when he walks and he's become a lot healthier as a result. He says doing the programme has changed his mindset and now that he's finished he wants to continue exercising. He's even bought himself an exercise bike!

Muriel

For Muriel, completing the PAD programme at home has given her many benefits. As well as being able to walk further without her symptoms, she's also managing to do house work again, which she wasn't previously able to do. She can now go walking with her friends and the dogs without having to stop as frequently, which means she can enjoy herself more. Having a more active lifestyle also means she now feels younger!

Peter

When Peter joined the PAD programme a few months ago, he was initially sceptical. After already completing an exercise programme at the hospital, he said it didn't make much difference to his condition and didn't think doing the Respect Health programme would be any better. However, he was pleasantly surprised because after completing the 12 weeks he no longer gets pain when he walks! He's also feeling a lot fitter and wants to continue exercising.

Ange

The programme was difficult to begin with for Ange. She hadn't been particularly active due to the pains in her legs when she walks. After several weeks of perseverance and determination, she's now able to walk further than she used to and she's feeling a lot more active. Being able to complete the programme at home has made a big difference and it's meant she now feels an improvement in both her physical and mental health.

Thomas

Thomas was the first patient to join the Respect Health Programme. After following the course consistently for 12 weeks, he's now feeling fitter and isn't getting the pain in his legs when he walks as frequently. The programme has encouraged him to go back to the gym and he's spending more time doing physical activities at weekends, such as mountaineering.

Paul

Working as a full-time plumber means that attending hospital appointments isn't easy for Paul. That's why doing the Respect Health Programme was ideal for him as he could fit it in around his work life. The convenience of it meant he could consistently keep up with the programme and work towards his goal of reducing the pain in his legs. Although he has an active job, he found the Respect Health exercise sessions targeted other muscles that he wouldn't normally exercise. He now doesn't get the pain in his legs when he walks!

Janice

For Janice, being able to do the exercises at home meant that she didn't feel judged. This helped to keep her on track because she knew that she could exercise at her own pace without the fear of someone else watching. Being supervised remotely was also a very important factor for her being able to complete the programme and stay motivated.

Graham

Despite some mobility issues, Graham was able to complete the Respect Health exercise programme and see the benefits. Due to the way the sessions are designed, he could adapt the exercises to suit him and work around any mobility issues. Graham now feels much healthier, fitter and is noticing a difference in his walking. He's also had comments from friends and family to say he looks healthier!
